49ers Enterprises, the investment vehicle of the San Francisco 49ers, completed its full takeover of Leeds United in July 2023. The deal was valued at roughly £170 million and received approval from the English Football League.

Since first acquiring a minority stake back in 2018, the group has poured approximately £450 million into the Yorkshire club.

Paraag Marathe, who serves as Chairman of Leeds United, has been managing the club’s strategic direction on behalf of 49ers Enterprises.

Leeds United isn’t an isolated case. It’s part of a tidal wave of American investment flooding into European soccer. The Glazers at Manchester United, Fenway Sports Group at Liverpool, Todd Boehly’s consortium at Chelsea.

The ownership structure includes minority investors NBA players Larry Nance Jr. and T.J. McConnell.
