Saffire Freycinet lodge has invested $120,000 in its astronomy experience, promising guests the moon (literally) or at least the opportunity to hold a piece of it.

When you think of the essential ingredients for an evening of stargazing, it’s obvious you need a dark night, clear sky and ideally a shooting star right on cue. But the staff at Saffire Freycinet think of all the extra things you didn’t know you needed.
In the lodge’s sunken amphitheatre, we also have hot-water bottles and blankets, resident astronomer and black hole expert Ryan Urquhart as our guide and $120,000 worth of high-powered telescopes. Also included: an 8.4-kilogram rock the size of a bowling ball.
