'The Pitt' tops the 2026 Emmy nominations with 25 nods, followed by 'Hacks' with 24; Rob Reiner scored a posthumous nod for 'The Bear' while Michael J. Fox returned to the Emmy race after a decade for his guest turn in 'Shrinking'The nominees for the 78th Emmy Awards were announced Wednesday evening. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sept. 14 in Los Angeles. Fox, who will compete in the Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category for his appearance in Shrinking. It is his first nomination in a decade and his 18th overall. Jason Bateman leads with four nominations across several productions, while Quinta Brunson, Paul W. Downs, Matthew Rhys, Jason Segel, Martin Short and Noah Wyle each received three nominations.Several series that ended this year also closed out their runs with a presence on the nominations list. Stranger Things received seven nominations for its fifth and final season, “Euphoria” received seven nominations for its final season and The Boys received five. “The Bear” has already aired its final season, but due to eligibility rules it will compete only at the 2027 ceremony.Euphoria received seven nominations for its final season (Photo: Courtesy of HBO MAX)The nominations were announced by actors Liza Colón-Zayas, who won an Emmy for her role in “The Bear,” and Jeff Hiller, also an Emmy winner for his role in “Somebody Somewhere.”The ceremony is scheduled for September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will be hosted by veteran actress Mariska Hargitay, star of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Hargitay is the first woman to host the ceremony in 15 years, with the last being Jane Lynch in 2011.
