A woman who went to Wimbledon has shared her honest verdict after spending a day at the tennis championship and seeing what was on offer, food-wise - including one treat which was 'better than strawberries'16:54, 08 Jul 2026Wimbledon is in full swing, with tennis players and fans from across the world flocking to southeast London to enjoy one of the sport's most popular annual events. But not everyone's just there for the world-class tennis action - for many, the various food and drink on offer is an equally important part of the experience.‌Of course, you can't attend Wimbledon without treating yourself to some strawberries and cream. The legendary sweet delicacy has been associated with the tennis championship since 1877, and still remains a crucial part of Wimbledon's menu, including the classic strawberries and cream box that remains on the menu to this day, along with a glass of Pimms, the official drink of the tournament.‌But now, one attendee named Lucy, an American living in London, claims to have found one menu item that's even better. "Here's my honest review of everything I ate at Wimbledon," Lucy said at the start of a video on social media, starting off with a portion of strawberries and cream.‌However, they didn't end up being as nice as she'd expected. "I need to de-influence you from the famous strawberries and cream," she said, revealing she'd paid £2.85 for a box of strawberries with cream poured on top.As she dug into the strawberries, she said: "I really hyped myself up for it. [...] For some reason, I thought it'd at least be whipped cream.‌"Instead, it kind of felt like I was dipping strawberries in milk."Moving on to lunch, Lucy opted for a venison ragu mac and cheese for £13.65. As she showed off her bowl, she said: "It looked promising, but for the price, there was barely any meat. It wasn't that flavourful, and honestly, it didn't keep me full for very long."As she was sat in the sun watching the tennis matches, she soon got very warm and cooled herself down with various cold drinks, with her favourite being a strawberry and basil flavoured kombucha for £3.70, which she said was 'so refreshing'.‌She also got herself a frozen coffee frappe for £7, which she claimed 'brought her back to life' after hours in the sun."For dinner, I tried the karage chicken with a fermented strawberry glaze," she revealed as she showed the paper plate of food, which cost £13.65.She went on to praise the meal as her favourite thing she'd eaten during her day at the event, saying she'd happily order it again.Article continues below"Wimbledon, and I think living in the UK in general, has made strawberries my new favourite fruit," she said, which could be a reason why she loved the chicken meal so much.People soon took to the comment section of the video to share their thoughts, as one person said: "Ooo that chicken looks goooood! Love it!"However, someone else wondered: "Who adds liquid/non whipped cream to strawberries? That’s criminal."
