US operator Sabey Data Centers has secured a new investor.Sabey Corporation and National Real Estate Advisors this week announced that Ares Management Corporation’s Secondaries funds have made a minority equity investment in Sabey Data Center Properties (SDCP). Terms of the investment weren’t shared.A joint venture between Sabey Corporation and National Real Estate Advisors, Sabey Data Centers operates data centers across the US, with sites in operation or development in Quincy, Seattle, and East Wenatchee, Washington; New York City; Austin, Texas; Umatilla, Oregon; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Ashburn, Virginia.The operator has some 251MW of operational capacity across some 4 million sq ft (371,612 sqm), and could triple that by 2036 on existing landholdings, according to its owners.Ares’ investment adds institutional capital with capacity for future expansion to support future growth. The firms said that Sabey DC is well-positioned to “accelerate development across existing campuses and pursue new opportunities in key data center markets.”“Welcoming Ares as an investor is a strong endorsement of SDCP’s platform, our team and the long-term demand we’re seeing for scaled data center infrastructure,” said Tim Mirick, president of SDCP. “With Sabey, National and now Ares aligned behind the business, we are well positioned to execute our disciplined growth plan and deliver the mission-critical capacity our customers need.”Sabey is a privately held commercial real estate development and investment company established in 1971. National Real Estate Advisors is a real estate-focused investment manager founded in 2000.Founded in 1997, Ares Management Corporation is a global alternative investment manager with $644 billion of assets under management. It owns data center firm Ada Infrastructure and has previously provided funding to Vantage and EdgeConneX.Ares Infrastructure Secondaries aims to invest in diversified portfolios of seasoned private infrastructure assets, managing some $42.6bn of assets.
