Leaders of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) paid floral tributes to former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on the occasion of his birth anniversary, at the party’s office in Tadepalli on Wednesday.State coordinator Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, MLCs Lella Appi Reddy and Ruhulla, and party leaders Jogi Ramesh, Velampalli Srinivas, Sailajanath, Nandigam Suresh, and Sudhakar Babu, along with representatives of various party wings, offered floral tributes to YSR’s statue. The programme also featured cake-cutting, distribution of clothes to the poor, and blood donation camp.Addressing the gathering, the party leaders recalled YSR’s welfare and development initiatives, including Aarogyasri, fee reimbursement, free power for farmers, ‘108’ emergency service, loan waiver and housing programmes. They said his tenure marked a transformative phase in Andhra Pradesh’s development and significantly expanded access to education, healthcare and social welfare for economically weaker sections.They said former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had carried forward YSR’s vision through programmes such as strengthened Aarogyasri scheme, Amma Vodi, education and healthcare reforms, Cheyutha, Kapu Nestham and EBC Nestham.Criticising the TDP-led NDA government, they alleged that welfare programmes were weakened. Illegal arrests had increased and democratic rights were under threat, they alleged.
