ANKARA: NATO allies including U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday affirmed their "ironclad commitment" to collective defence under the alliance's Article 5 pact in a declaration at their summit in Ankara.In their declaration, European allies and Canada said they were assuming greater responsibility for the alliance's defence, as allies announced a total of more then $50 billion in new procurements.NATO members also pledged €70 billion ($80 billion) in military assistance to Ukraine for 2026 and "at least equivalent levels" of support in 2027, according to the declaration.The summit declaration confirmed a report last week, based on a text approved by NATO ambassadors and reviewed by Reuters.

New procurements totaling over fifty billion dollars were announced by members. NATO members pledged eighty billion dollars in military aid for Ukraine. Equivalent support levels for Ukraine are also planned for the year 2027.
