Amazon Web Services (AWS) is set to develop another data center campus outside Houston, Texas.Through Amazon Data Services, the company has filed [1-2-3-4] with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) for "Project Eagle," a four-building campus in Boling, Wharton County.As reported by the Wharton Post, the campus is set for approximately 2,700 acres near FM 1301 and FM 442, at 240, 244, and 258 Eaglewood Road.Each data center building has been filed for separately, but all projects are identical in terms of size and investment: 189,060 sq ft (17,565 sqm) and $300m, respectively.Construction on all four buildings is set to start on August 1, 2026, while the first three have a completion date of the beginning of January 2027, and the last building is slated for August 2027.Wharton County is located southwest of Houston, which is Texas' third-largest data center market. Wharton County itself has yet to see much interest from data center developers.AWS is developing several large campuses in Texas. In May 2026, the company acquired 1,300 acres near Cedar Creek in Bastrop County for a potential data center campus. That land is located off State Highway 21 West, some 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Austin.The company also has a footprint in San Antonio and previously filed to develop in DeSoto, outside of Dallas.Earlier this year, the firm filed to potentially develop a large campus next to Vistra’s Comanche nuclear plant outside Fort Worth.
