FIFA has strongly condemned the racist abuse directed at American streamer and social media star IShowSpeed during the World Cup match between Argentina and Cape Verde in the United States.
In a statement posted on X, football's global governing body said it strongly opposes all forms of racism, discrimination, hatred and bigotry. The statement followed an incident involving the streamer, born Darren Watkins Jr., during the match.
In a clip seen by TNX Africa, IShowSpeed was livestreaming while supporting Cape Verde when an Argentina fan leaned over a stadium railing to get his attention.
After he responded, the supporter allegedly told him in Spanish to "go cry at the zoo," a remark widely condemned as racist.
