IShowSpeed faces racism at FIFA World Cup.
FIFA has launched an investigation after popular streamer IShowSpeed was allegedly subjected to a racist remark from a fan during Argentina's FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash against Cabo Verde at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
"The FIFA World Cup is a celebration of unity, diversity and respect. It brings together people, cultures and communities from around the world and anyone who acts in a manner that undermines these values is not welcome in our game," football's world governing body said in a statement after confirming it had immediately opened an investigation into the incident.
The moment took place while the 21-year-old American content creator, whose real name is Darren Jason Watkins Jr, was livestreaming the match wearing a Cabo Verde jersey.
After noticing a supporter trying to get his attention from the stands, Speed turned to ask what she had said. The fan allegedly replied in Spanish, telling him to "go cry at the zoo", a phrase widely condemned as racist.
