Less than two years before a Hamilton teen fell to his death through the roof of the former Westinghouse factory on Aberdeen Avenue, an incident involving a police dog prompted the service to deem the long-vacant industrial building too dangerous to enter.
That’s why, in the early-morning hours of April 4, emergency crews were told to vacate the McMaster University-owned building “due to building infrastructure insecurity” until it could be assessed, according to police reports obtained by the family through a freedom of information (FOI) request and provided to The Spectator.
