It's been revealed that a number of older set-top boxes and Apple devices are set to lose access to NOW, the popular telly platform from Sky.For those not aware, NOW gives users full access to entertainment, movies, sports, and live TV without the need for a satellite dish or a long-term contract. Instead, homes can sign up for simple memberships which are then beamed into homes via the web.It's a popular service, but upcoming changes mean some customers will no longer be able to use NOW on older hardware.According to the experts at Cord Busters, support for several legacy streaming devices will end on August 3, meaning they will no longer be able to access NOW.Affected devices include:NOW TV Smart Box (model 4500SK)Roku Streaming Stick (model 3500X)Roku box models 2700X, 2710X and 2720XThe change does not appear to be a decision by Sky. Instead, Roku is ending support for its older hardware, which also affects the NOW TV Smart Box because it was built in partnership with Roku.Anyone using one of these TV gadgets will need to upgrade to a newer streaming device to continue watching NOW. It's not all doom and gloom as most modern smart TVs, games consoles, Amazon Fire TV Sticks and newer Roku devices will continue to support the service.The changes also extend to some older Apple devices. Reports suggest NOW will no longer work on iPhones and iPads that cannot run iOS 16.This means support is ending for the iPhone 7 and earlier models, as well as the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4.If you currently watch NOW on one of these older Apple devices, you'll need to switch to a newer model that supports iOS 16 or later to keep streaming.What is NOW?NOW is Sky's contract-free streaming service, offering access to entertainment, movies, live sports, kids' content and TV channels through flexible monthly memberships.
