Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov
Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said on Tuesday that NATO’s unity and solidarity remain Bulgaria’s most important security guarantees, stressing that a stronger alliance and increased defense cooperation are essential for addressing current security challenges.
Stoyanov made the comments during a working dinner of defense ministers held as part of the NATO heads of state and government meeting. He said the Alliance’s transformation into what he described as “NATO 3.0” would depend on greater investment in military capabilities, the development of a strong defense industry and the integration of new technologies.
“Building a modern, integrated and sustainable industrial base is a strategic asset,” Stoyanov said, highlighting the importance of expanding investment, encouraging technology transfers and participating in multinational defense projects.
According to the Bulgarian defense Ministry, the country’s defense industry has the potential to become a more important part of NATO’s industrial supply chain by contributing to the Alliance’s broader efforts to increase production capacity and strengthen military capabilities.
