Manchester United reportedly submitted a £70m bid for Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni around July 7, and now another English club has entered the race. Real Madrid is expected to reject the initial offer for a player they value as a cornerstone of their squad.

Tchouaméni, 26, joined Real Madrid from Monaco in 2022 for approximately €80m. He’s under contract until 2028, which gives Madrid enormous leverage in any negotiation. The club has reportedly shown openness to offers in the €60m to €100m range.

Manchester United’s pursuit comes after the club missed out on two other midfield targets. Both Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali were snapped up by Tottenham Hotspur, leaving United scrambling for alternatives.

Now a second English club has joined the chase, though the identity hasn’t been confirmed. Earlier rumors pointed to Chelsea as a potential suitor.

Tchouaméni has made over 125 appearances for Real Madrid and earned multiple caps for France. He’s versatile enough to play both defensive midfielder and centre-back.
