Thailand, Southeast Asia's second-largest economy, welcomed 16.21 million foreign tourist arrivals between Jan. 1 and July 4, down 3.11% from a year earlier, with China, Malaysia and India leading the top source markets.
The country also generated 782.57 billion baht (US$23.4 billion) in tourism revenue, reinforcing tourism's role as a key driver of the Thai economy, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports said on July 6 as cited by Nation Thailand.
China remained Thailand's largest source of foreign tourists, with 2.65 million arrivals, followed by Malaysia (2.11 million), India (1.24 million), Russia (1.02 million) and South Korea (596,673).

The figures underscore the continued importance of short-haul Asian markets to Thailand's tourism recovery, while long-haul visitors from Europe remain a key source of tourism spending and seasonal growth.
