Voted in as an American League starter, a right hip strain will prevent Buxton from appearing in his third All-Star Game.With the four-day break coming up, the Twins and Buxton, who is third in the AL in home runs, saw this as an optimal time to go on the IL as he could potentially return for the team’s July 18 contest at Chicago while only missing minimal time. The team recalled outfielder Alan Roden from Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday to replace Buxton on the roster.Winners in six of their last seven series, the Twins open a six-game homestand on Tuesday with series against Cleveland and the Los Angeles Angels.This story will be updated.
