Temperatures in the United States might have soared over Independence Day, but a network of gas stations promoted by President Donald Trump helped cool fuel costs in the Philadelphia region over the holiday weekend. Gas prices at the Freedom Fuel Network saved motorists at the pumps in and around the City of Brotherly Love in honor of “America’s 250th birthday.” While the national average for a gallon of regular gas was $3.79 on Monday, motorists in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs in Pennsylvania and New Jersey could fill up at FFN gas stations for just $3.47 per gallon. The savings were even more impressive when considering the statewide average prices for regular gas in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Philadelphia County. Gas prices in Pennsylvania are much higher than the national average, with regular gas costing $3.97 per gallon, according to AAA. In New Jersey, the statewide average is $3.82 per gallon, while in Philadelphia County, the average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.95. Both averages are significantly higher than the $3.47 total at Freedom Fuel Network gas stations. Given that the gas tank of a standard car is between 12 and 16 gallons, drivers in the Philadelphia metropolitan area saved an average amount of approximately $5.76 to $7.68 per fill-up in Philadelphia and the surrounding Pennsylvania suburbs and $4.20 to $5.60 in New Jersey. The existence of Freedom Fuel Network in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, area was shrouded in mystery when Trump first announced it in a post to his Truth Social account on the evening of July 1. Without any explanation or specification, the president said that “a very smart retailer located throughout the northeast” was stepping up to provide discounted gasoline at “25 ‘Freedom Fuel Stations.'”
I saved a ton on gas by filling at Trump ballyhooed ‘Freedom Fuel Network’
Trump's much lampooned 'Freedom Fuel Network' for cheaper gas isn't fake, as some on the left claim. It's very real, and its saving drivers money.
