German luxury car major Mercedes-Benz India said in the first half of 2026 (H1 CY 2026) it retailed 9768 units, up 9% YoY. The company also achieved Q2 (April to June quarter) sales of 4637 units, up 10% YoY. The performance was driven by new and existing products, qualitative network upgradation and differentiated customer experience, it’s MD & CEO Santosh Iyer said. The overall economic positive macro-economic environment also enabled the best ever sales H1 and Q2 sales performance, he added.Demand for Mercedes-Benz’s Top-End Luxury portfolio remained high in H1 2026, growing by more than 20% and comprising 28% sales penetration, led by vehicles like the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-AMG, and the New V-Class.Mercedes-AMG sales surged by 50% in H1 2026.Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) comprised 25% of all Top-End Mercedes-Benz sold in H1 2026. Top-End BEVs (₹1.4 crore above) grew 85% in Q2 CY 2026. BEV penetration doubled to 14% of total sales mix in Q2 2026, driven by the success of the New CLA BEV and demand for the top end EQS SUV, the company said.“Mercedes-Benz’s strong growth in first half of 2026 underlines the success of our strategy,” Mr Iyer said.“The new V-Class and CLA BEV drove our best-ever H1 and Q2 sales, underpinning superior product substance, reconfirming Mercedes customers’ preference for value over entry price points,” he stated.“The success of the new CLA BEV is an affirmation that Mercedes-Benz customers prefer owning the latest technology, with the car being sold out within few days of market introduction, customers willing to wait till 5-6months, to proudly own the car which is truly distinctive and a ‘Class of its Own’,” he said.“The CLA BEV has propelled Mercedes-Benz’s BEV penetration to reach 14% in Q2 2026.H1 2026 has shown increased preference for our Top-end Vehicles, with the share of TEVs now reaching an all-time high of 28%, fueled by the introduction and growing demand for the New V-Class and the 50% growth trajectory achieved by the AMG portfolio,” he added.On the expectations for H2 he said, “We started the year being cautiously optimistic. We were always giving a single digit growth projections. If I look at the H1 results, it definitely gives us confidence to do even more. But frankly, we will still keep the prognosis for a single digit growth because the macroeconomic conditions, the availability of some of these cars..”The company entered the second half with an order book of around 2,000 cars. “So that gives us a lot of confidence.
