Former France star Marcel Desailly has praised Bafana Bafana and Africa’s representatives for their performances at the 2026 Fifa World Cup.
South Africa advanced to the knockout stages for the first time in their history before bowing out to co-hosts Canada in the Round of 32.
Morocco are through to the quarterfinals after dispatching Canada 3-0 in the Round of 16, while Egypt will hope to pull off a shock result against defending champions Argentina for a place in the last eight on Tuesday evening (6pm SA time).
Even if Egypt fail to progress, Desailly believes it has already been an overwhelmingly positive tournament for Africa’s representatives.
