Fuel price relief on the horizon for motorists.

More relief at fuel pumps is what South African motorists could expect to enjoy in August if oil prices continue at their current levels for the rest of July.

Over-recoveries of between 76 cents and 86 cents per litre for petrol, and diesel saw a smaller over-recovery in the region of 20 cents, according to the latest daily data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF).

While much could happen between now and the end of the month, however, motorist will gladly lap any price reduction, considering the steep increases they had endured in recent months.

Although July saw significant fuel price decreases come into effect following the truce between the US and Iran, prices remain significantly higher than they were before the conflict.
