More fuel price relief could be on the way next month.

South African motorists could enjoy further fuel price relief in August if oil prices continue at their current levels for the remainder of July.

The latest daily data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) shows over-recoveries of between 76 cents and 86 cents per litre for petrol, while diesel is seeing a smaller over-recovery in the region of 20 cents.

Much could still change between now and month-end, but following the severe spate of fuel price increases that took place from April to June, any relief will be welcome news to motorists and commuters.

Although July saw significant fuel price decreases come into effect following the truce between the US and Iran, prices remain significantly higher than they were before the conflict.
