Communications Minister Solly Malatsi has insisted that Resolve Communications never approached him on behalf of Starlink.
Communications Minister Solly Malatsi has denied claims that Resolve Communications ever attempted to arrange a meeting between him and Starlink, insisting the lobbying firm never approached him on behalf of the satellite internet provider.
Resolve Communications, founded by former Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Tony Leon, has come under scrutiny after former DA leader John Steenhuisen said he was uncomfortable with meetings the firm allegedly arranged on behalf of its clients.
The controversy has intensified in recent weeks after Steenhuisen alleged that Resolve sought to arrange meetings between DA ministers and private-sector clients, including Starlink, which is seeking to operate in South Africa despite not meeting the country's local ownership requirements.
Former Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille has also said Resolve assisted the city during its Day Zero drought communications campaign as a subcontractor appointed by another agency.
