Byron Ashton, who has turned his life around, is hoping to assist at-risk youth in navigating a meaningful path in life.

A Cape Town man who founded a dangerous gang in Ocean View has turned his life around and is now living for the Lord.

Byron Ashton, 33, had a rough childhood which ultimately led him to seek love, a sense of belonging and purpose within gangs.

Speaking to IOL, Ashton explained he grew up without his parents and was reared by his grandmother until the age of 13.

“After that, I had to go out on my own. I stayed with my paternal grandmother for four years until she sold the house. After that, I went to live with my father until Grade 10 when I was 16 years old,” Ashton explains.
