MANILA, Philippines—The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday has placed local government units (LGUs) on heightened alert as Super Typhoon “Bavi” nears the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
The department particularly refers to places in Northern Luzon and other high-risk areas.
“Now is the time to prepare. We are directing all LGUs to move early, activate their disaster response mechanisms, and ensure that communities in high-risk areas are ready should conditions worsen,” the DILG said in a statement.
