Mbappe blasts Paraguayan senator over racist remarks after World Cup clash [Courtesy]
France forward Kylian Mbappé has strongly condemned Celeste Amarilla after she made a series of racist remarks on social media targeting his background and education following Paraguay's defeat to France in the World Cup Round of 16.
Amarilla, a member of Paraguay's Liberal Radical Authentic Party, posted the controversial comments on X after France eliminated Paraguay from the tournament.
Mbappé responded in earnest.
"Madame Celeste Amarilla, you are a despicable woman and unworthy of your position. You do not represent Paraguay, that country which has sweated passion and honour throughout the competition. Through your recklessness and your brazen racism, the entire world has already forgotten the journey and the historic effort that your players accomplished during this World Cup, making way for an incompetent woman who gives the worst possible image of her country," he wrote.
