There’s little disputing that Cristiano Ronaldo is the most successful footballer to have ever played the game, and it’s something we’re repeatedly told, most notably by the man himself.
Ronaldo called time on his international career as Portugal bowed out of the Fifa World Cup in the Round of 16 on Monday evening.
He made 233 appearances and scored 146 goals for Portugal, both national records.
The 41-year-old’s career did not have the fairytale ending many had hoped for, as Portugal lost 1-0 to Spain deep into stoppage time in Dallas.
