Neighbours of the property in Ormesby St Margaret, Norfolk, have repeatedly complained about 'debauchery' at the property, and even claimed used condoms were thrown into their gardens20:35, 06 Jul 2026An Airbnb owner accused of using the property to throw steamy sex parties has lost a long legal battle to keep a sauna and decking his neighbours claimed were used for "debauchery".‌Owen Chandler Harrod publicly marketed his bungalow in Ormesby St Margaret, Norfolk, as an ideal couple's cosy getaway spot, complete with a hot tub. But that hot tub, locals claim, became the staging area for randy outdoor sex sessions that, thanks to the raised decking on which it was located, were carried out in full view of the local community.‌Harrod, who was previously refused retrospective planning permission after a whistleblower claimed he had building work done on his garden without permission, has now lost an appeal in the wake of a flood of complaints from hacked off neighbours - some of whom have alleged "all sorts of debauchery" took place at his home.‌Harrod was refused retrospective permission from Great Yarmouth Borough Council for the decking, sauna outbuilding and 2.8-metre tall trellis fencing last year. The refusal, which came in the wake of a whistleblower tipoff, was followed with a decision from the Planning Inspectorate to dismiss an appeal launched by Mr Harrod following a site visit last month.During the visit, the inspectorate said no one was available to grant an inspector access to the plush property, which still boasts a 4.81 rating on Airbnb. Locals had previously claimed that the home's elevated decking granted the neighbourhood unwelcome views of alleged steamy behaviour in its hot tub.‌Some alleged that they had used condoms thrown into their gardens, and others said they were frequently forced to listen to the accompanying noise coming from the nondescript two-bedroom bungalow.Local Rosemary Vincent, 90, previously said: "There is all sorts of debauchery there, which all the residents are aware of." And John Huxford, 80, added: "I have seen all sorts going on there.‌"I have seen people having sex on the decking and up to all sorts of mischief in the hot tub. People also stand on the table, shouting. As a result of the partying, all sorts of stuff has been thrown into my garden - beer cans, litter and even a used condom. It is just disgusting."Having already warned Mr Harrod in writing that a no-show would result in automatic dismissal under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, the inspector threw out his appeal.Article continues belowThe bungalow is still being listed on Airbnb as a "coastal getaway" that "comes kitted out with luxury amenities like a super-king sized bed, a super large 70" 4k TV, a large premium hot tub". The property, its description added, is also a "quiet relaxing location" five minutes from the local seaside.Owner Mr Harrod, who bought the property during the pandemic, could now be forced to remove the sauna and rip out the decking and trellis. He previously said: "I'm not aware of any problems with the Airbnb, it’s been very successful and it's always fully booked. I've had nothing but positive conversations and experiences with all my neighbours on the road. It's a lovely area and everybody has been very kind and helpful. Of course, if any of the neighbours need to have a conversation with me, they are more than welcome to."
