James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli said a stalker "forced" her to sell the family home she had lived in for 20 years after years of harassment.16:59, 06 Jul 2026Updated 17:01, 06 Jul 2026A stalker who targeted James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli for a decade has been handed an indefinite hospital order after she said he "forced" her to sell her family home.‌Daniel Wilson, 37, broke into Ms Broccoli's home in 2016, leaving her so fearful that she sold the property where she had lived for 20 years, Southwark Crown Court heard.‌The court heard Wilson later breached a restraining order by leaving threatening Valentine's Day voicemails saying, "I've got murder on my mind", and by posting Ms Broccoli's contact details alongside abusive messages online.‌That month, he also breached the order by posting a picture of a “scantily clad woman accompanied by the words: naughty slut; and Barbara Broccoli’s contact details”, Judge Christopher Hehir said as he sentenced Wilson on Monday.He has admitted stalking involving serious alarm or distress between April 1 2022 and February 14 2025, as well as two charges of breaching the ban on contacting Ms Broccoli which was first imposed in 2017.Wilson, of Lambeth, south London, has also pleaded guilty to affray and criminal damage at Inner London Crown Court for using a hammer to smash car and hospital windows in December 2023.‌He was handed an indefinite Section 37 hospital order with a Section 41 restriction to be served concurrently for each charge.The judge also passed a deprivation order for the hammer he used in 2023.Her son attended the same same sixth form college as Wilson, though the men’s friendship ended in 2009.‌Wilson then developed an “enduring fixation” with her that included “grandiose thoughts.”He believed she owed him money for a bronze bust of her father, Albert “Cubby” Broccoli – the man who first brought James Bond to the screen in the 1960s.His fixation on her led to Wilson breaking into her London home in 2016 and “causing a large amount of damage”, the judge said.‌Ms Broccoli’s two friends inside had to “barricade themselves in a bedroom” while Wilson “barricaded himself in the house” before police arrived, he added. Ms Broccoli was not in the house.“I’m in constant fear for my personal safety, always on edge and looking over my shoulder,” Ms Broccoli told the court.Wilson still experiences delusions about Ms Broccoli and expressed them during the hearing, prompting the judge to cut the video link he was attending from in Wandsworth Prison.‌He interrupted the judge’s sentencing remarks to say: “What about the sculpture, Your Honour, what about the bronze sculpture?“Let’s cut the shit mate. I made Barbara a sculpture.“I gave bronze sculpture to Barbara… she didn’t pay for it.”‌He asked “how is that a delusion?” before the video was terminated.In relation to the stalking, prosecutor Arabella MacDonald said: “This is a rather relentless and disturbing campaign with hundreds of messages over WhatsApp and text and email – and voicemail using a number of different telephone numbers.“(Using) numerous email addresses, including one in which he used Ms Broccoli’s own name.‌“The nature of the messages ranged from strange to sexual to threatening.”On December 6 2023, Wilson smashed six vehicle windows in the Lambeth Hospital car park as well as multiple windows and a door of the hospital facility – causing £8,837 in damage.Two expert witnesses on Wilson’s psychiatric condition disagreed on whether he has schizoaffective disorder or bipolar affective disorder.‌One told the court there is a “hair’s breadth” between the diagnoses and the doctors agreed the treatment is the same.The court heard his condition has been exacerbated by using crystal meth and cannabis which he has historically relapsed on when in the community.Giving evidence, Dr Eleanor Hind said he poses different risks to the public.‌“The first would be the stalking behaviour, causing psychological distress to victims and risk of physical violence.“The second would be violence – he has engaged in physical violence on several occasions, including to family members, staff, and also threats to members of the public.“Including when he went to the hospital with a hammer.”‌Wilson was banned from contacting Ms Broccoli under the terms of a restraining order imposed by Isleworth Crown Court on July 3 2017.Ms Broccoli took over creative control of the James Bond franchise in 1995 when Pierce Brosnan took over the role of the UK’s most famous secret agent.Last year, it was announced that Ms Broccoli and her half-brother, Michael G Wilson, would be handing over the James Bond reins to Amazon MGM Studios.‌Together, they had produced the last nine Bond films including Casino Royale, Quantum Of Solace, Spectre and No Time To Die.They were honoured with CBEs and also won the outstanding British film Bafta for 2012’s Skyfall, along with director Sir Sam Mendes.When he was first charged last year, Wilson faced 11 counts of breaching the restraining order, on dates between April 1 2022 and April 2024.‌A further two charges of breaching the restraining order, on February 12 and 14 2025, were later added, along with the stalking charge.At a hearing in March, Wilson pleaded guilty to the two restraining order breaches in February 2025, as well as the stalking charge which dates from April 1 2022 to February 14 2025.The other 11 charges alleging breaches of the restraining order were left to lie on file.Article continues belowWilson admitted affray and seven counts of criminal damage relating to the hospital incident in May last year.This is a Breaking News story.
