Canara Bank officials conducting the ‘coin mela’ at Uzhavar sandai at BB Kulam in Madurai on Monday.

The Canara Bank conducted a ‘coin mela’ at the Uzhavar sandhai’ (farmers shandy) in BB Kulam, which benefitted many of the farmers and visitors.According to a press release issued here on Monday, the Deputy General Managers D. Srinivas and Raghul Ranjan launched the mela in the presence of officials from the bank and Uzhavar Sandhai.Around ₹3.30 lakh worth coins, in the denominations of ₹1, ₹2, ₹5, ₹10 and ₹20, were given on the occasion, said P&T Nagar Branch officials.Many visitors to the shandy welcomed the initiative of the Canara Bank and said that such coin mela should be conducted at periodic intervals and also in bus stands, railway station, in front of public parks and at the Kalaignar Centenary Library.
