Two cameras is better than one. A thinner phone means lower battery life than a thicker phone. This is how Apple conditioned consumers to understand the differences between its iPhone lineup—and to pay the most for its “Pro” and “Pro Max” models. Now, Apple needs to fix the iPhone Air with the rules it established, whether it likes it or not.
On the same day that he filed a formal response to Apple’s lawsuit against him for leaking what would become iOS 26, YouTuber and leaker Jon Prosser dropped a video depicting what the “iPhone Air 2” will look like when it reportedly launches in spring 2027. Unsurprisingly, Prosser says the second-gen iPhone Air will have an ultrawide camera alongside the main camera. He says both cameras will have 48 megapixels. Adding an ultrawide would satisfy just about everyone who complained about the iPhone Air’s single lens. In his high-resolution 3D renders, Prosser places the second camera next to the main one. Last year, I voiced how this design wouldn’t be possible unless Apple redesigned the camera plateau or shrank the components inside to fit an additional camera. If Prosser is correct, it looks like Apple will do the latter. He says Apple is redesigning the Face ID camera to give the iPhone Air 2 “just enough room” to fit the ultrawide.
