Henderson, 36, landed awkwardly after climbing over an advertising board during the celebrations following England's gritty 3-2 win against Mexico in Mexico City.The midfielder was seen laying on the turf in severe pain, as team-mate Dan Burn hurriedly called for help. England's players formed a barrier around Henderson, who was taken off the Estadio Azteca pitch on a stretcher and received oxygen.Speaking on the Make Football Great Again podcast, Mirror chief reporter John Cross said: "Well, it feels like it might be [his World Cup over], to be honest."It's a wrist or arm injury which you can probably put in plaster, but as the team travels back to their base in Kansas City, Jordan Henderson is is staying behind in Mexico City to have it set and repaired.It feels as if it it's probably going to be his World Cup over. What an absolute hammer blow, so heartbreaking. He's such a good character and person and leader. I think that that's absolutely devastating for him."The Athletic also reported that the Brentford star needs to have surgery in order to repair the injury, with one member of England's medical staff staying to accompany him.Henderson was an unused substitute against Mexico, although he did receive a yellow card for dissent towards referee Alireza Faghani in the second half. It's quite serious. He's in hospital. It doesn't fit with the rest of the evening. I don't know the procedure."Jude Bellingham, who scored twice against the co-hosts to help England reach the quarter-finals, added: "He is in a bit of bother, but our medical team have everything under control.
