Need to knowMost fans will have seen the viral Harry Kane interview, but what about these moments away from the camera in England’s win against Mexico?14:24, 06 Jul 2026Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham scored England's goals in the 3-2 win over MexicoStarting with the viral Harry Kane interview, here are some funny moments from England’s win against Mexico...Harry Kane... or Burt?: Poor Harry Kane. The England captain put his heart and soul into his 90-minute display against Mexico, battling up front as a lone target man and scoring from the penalty spot. And yet, there was still room for the 32-year-old to become the butt of the jokes. After singing and celebrating with the travelling support, the striker's voice turned somewhat hoarse. Nobody was prepared for how high-pitched Kane's first words were when he was interviewed by presenter Kelly Somers. One crafty fan used the audio from Kane's interview and masked him behind an animation of Bert from Sesame Street, with the video surpassing 1.1 million views on X.Crouch LOVES Kane: Staying on the subject of Kane, who knew the Bayern Munich star was such close friends with Peter Crouch? Apparently no one. They do have a fair bit in common: boasting a respectable strike rate for England, earning a long-lasting legacy in the Premier League and of course, there's that Tottenham connection. But there was a hint of bromance with how Crouch and Kane locked arms and hugged each other so vigorously for 10 seconds.Bellingham's sicknote speech: Jude Bellingham for prime minister, anyone? Not only did the midfielder come up with a brilliant brace to inspire England to victory, he gave the best response when asked about fans watching from home calling in sick to work. Bellingham said: "Have another shot and text your bosses to say you're not coming in tomorrow. That's about it. My god, if you can't enjoy a night like this, just for one night, then I don't know what it's worth.” Footballers are often advised to "stick to football" when involving themselves in day-to-day politics. But maybe Bellingham is the people's champion we should be listening to?Gordon's X-rated greeting: As Anthony Gordon hovered near Mexico head coach Javier Aguirre on the touchline, it's likely that he was expecting to pick up some Spanish phrases after learning the language before moving to Barcelona. What he probably didn't expect was Aguirre to call him over, insult him in English and laugh about it.In a moment that was caught by broadcast cameras, Aguirre could be seen looking at the winger and saying: “Gordon.” But just as the England No. 18 turned around, the Mexico boss said: “F*** you,” before laughing to himself. Gordon saw it for the piece of comedy that it was and laughed it off. Given how Aguirre threatened to boil over on the touchline on Sunday night, perhaps he would be best advised not to return the favour.Bentley in the crowd: Has anyone checked on David Bentley? The ex-footballer, now 41, was in the crowd at the Azteca and clearly some Mexican fans were unhappy with his presence. The former Tottenham midfielder turned his phone camera to one man, dressed in a Mexico home shirt, who appeared to be aiming a horrific neck-slit gesture in his direction. Mouthing words in Spanish, the man in question appeared to tell Bentley "you're going to die here, here!" before adding the slit gestures and repeating "dead, dead" over and over.Another fan in the footage did almost exactly the same. Perhaps in isolation that's not funny. Not in the slightest. But Bentley certainly seemed to be amused by it, grinning to the camera and pulling a X-rated middle finger gesture in response. Let's hope he made it out safely.Rooney joins in Wonderwall: Once upon a time, there was a moment where Wayne Rooney, Joe Hart and Micah Richards played in the same England team. So don't be surprised that there's still some residual brotherly love amongst them after reuniting in the BBC punditry studio. As Oasis hit Wonderwall reverberated around the Azteca after the 3-2 win, Hart and Richards linked arms in the studio and mimed the lyrics, swaying from side to side. Richards then egged on Rooney to join them in unison and the Manchester United legend obliged.Hart then took it to another level, producing his best Noel Gallagher impression when singing the line "because maybe...". Naturally, Richards joined in with all of his playful exuberance, while Rooney looked to be a tad uncomfortable with expressing himself so freely. Get them a TV show, we say.
