Bristow Group has formally introduced the Airbus H160 helicopter into service in Nigeria, marking the aircraft’s first deployment in support of the energy sector and rescue services within the Group and on the African continent.
The unveiling, held on Thursday July 2, 2026 before regulators, energy stakeholders, and industry aviation leaders in Lagos, positions the medium-twin platform as a next-generation solution for offshore logistics in one of Africa’s most active oil and gas markets.
Addressing the gathering, Dapo Oyeleke, the Managing Director (MD) of Bristow Helicopters, l divulged that the acquisition reflects a continued commitment to safety and excellence in complex offshore environments, and contextualized the H160 introduction within a six-decade operational history of Bristow in Nigeria:
“For over 6 decades, Bristow has been the trusted wing and backbone of Nigeria’s offshore energy logistics. From our strategic hub here in Lagos, to the vital operational bases across the Niger Delta, we have continued to fly through eras of change, every day, without fail, with purpose and with an unwavering commitment to safety and excellence.
“From the period when agriculture was the main stay of the Nigerian economy, where Bristow was heavily involved in crop spraying and survey activities across Northern and Eastern Nigeria, spraying groundnut fields, oil palm and rubber plantations, to the early discovery of oil with the Shell-BP consortium in 1956.
