Months after entering service, Bombardier’s Global 8000 has arrived in Africa, with one of Nigeria’s most powerful industrialists becoming its first customer on the continent in a move that flexes both aviation ambition and billionaire financial muscle, especially for a buyer who already owns two other Bombardier jets.

The Global 8000 builds on the Global 7500, which entered service in December 2018 and became one of Bombardier’s strongest ultra-long-range business jets.

Since then, Bombardier has pushed the platform further, positioning the Global 8000 as more than a luxury aircraft and loading it with features built around speed, range, comfort and high-level executive travel.

Months before its African debut, Bombardier delivered the first completed Global 8000 to Canadian billionaire Patrick Dovigi, the founder and chief executive of GFL Environmental, at its Mississauga assembly centre.

Now, the aircraft’s early rollout has extended into Africa.
