The Secretariat of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) issued an official statement during the mourning and farewell ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, declaring “resistance against adversaries” and “revenge for the blood of Iran’s martyred Leader” as the primary, state-sanctioned themes of the procession.

The Secretariat’s heavy emphasis on military retaliation exposes a profound paradox at the highest levels of the establishment: the aggressive rhetoric comes just weeks after the SNSC voted near-unanimously, with only a single dissenting vote, to enter direct emergency negotiations with the United States and sign a comprehensive interim agreement.

The SNSC statement addressed foreign intelligence and military observers directly:

“Keep your eyes fixed on Iran over these coming days. This is the very same Iran that you foolishly imagined you could bring to its knees within a matter of days.”

The Secretariat further claimed that the “roaring sea of crowds” attending the funeral processions across the country was uniformly demanding multi-front resistance and absolute vengeance.
