A new face stepped in to present BBC's Wimbledon coverage after the regular host was absent11:02, 06 Jul 2026One of the BBC's much-loved Wimbledon presenters was temporarily replaced at the weekend.‌The prestigious tournament at SW19 has now moved into its second week, following seven days of thrilling action.‌The middle Sunday (July 5) proved no exception, with both Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner booking their places in the quarter-finals. A gripping encounter unfolded on Number One Court, where Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime beat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in a nail-biting five-set battle.‌The drama continued on Centre Court as women's world number one Aryna Sabalenka was sensationally knocked out of the competition by Japan's Naomi Osaka in straight sets, while US favourite Coco Gauff made it through just minutes before the 11pm curfew. But the on-court results weren't the only surprises of the day, as a familiar BBC face was missing from the start of Sunday's coverage.Isa Guha, who ordinarily fronts the morning Wimbledon broadcasts, was absent from SW19 for the day's play, reports the Express.‌The former cricketer had instead headed to Lord's to present the final of the Women's T20 World Cup.While she kept viewers up to speed with all the cricket action, Isa's place at Wimbledon was taken by former British tennis star Laura Robson, who revealed her colleague's whereabouts on air.Opening the broadcast, Laura said: "What a day. If you love sport, what a treat, what an incredible line-up all round. Here at Wimbledon, it's middle Sunday and the last 16 matches are getting underway.‌"Of course, in the football, England's men take on Mexico tonight in the wee hours of the morning. Are you staying up? Are you catching up? You've got either option. And also today, England's women are in the T20 Cricket World Cup final at Lord's against Australia.
