A familiar face has joined the BBC's presenting team for the 2026 Wimbledon Championships16:55, 30 Jun 2026A fresh face has joined the Wimbledon 2026 presenting line-up.Thousands of devoted tennis fans will descend upon SW19 over the coming fortnight as the Wimbledon Championships begin for another year. The tournament's opening day (Monday, June 29) delivered plenty of drama, including a gripping five-set encounter on Centre Court between World Number One Jannik Sinner and Serbian player Miomir Kecmanovi. That wasn't all, as Centre Court also witnessed some late-night thrills when Wu Yibing gave his all against seven-time Wimbledon Champion Novak Djokovic, who eventually progressed to the next round. Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka cruised through in straight sets against Teodora Kostovi, while US favourites Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff also moved forward.Beyond the on-court action, fans were thrilled to spot a new addition to the BBC presenting roster, reports the Express. As Monday's coverage began, presenter Isa Guha announced that British tennis legend Jamie Murray would be joining the team as BBC Sport's specialist analysis expert, just two months after his retirement announcement. The seven-time major doubles champion, who is the elder brother of Andy Murray, will utilise enhanced match data, cutting-edge technology and tactical breakdowns to provide viewers with insights into the contemporary game, from crucial match-ups and strategic developments to the intricate details of both singles and doubles competition.Clare notably caught up with Jamie during Novak Djokovic's opening match on Monday evening. Jamie explained: "He's come out and played a good match and Wu really has matched him for it, strength for strength. [He's] put Novak under a lot of pressure."However, viewers were swift to voice the same grievance, with many feeling Jamie would be better suited to the commentary box rather than the analysis room."Do we really need Jamie Murray in the Analysis room? The commentators tell us all the Analysis throughout the 2-5 hour matches. Just put Jamie in the commentary box," one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).Another added: "It's all a bit stiff and lifeless. Mostly the format, but not convinced Jamie's personality is a fit for this," while a third said: "We're not interested in Jamie Murray analysis."Someone else questioned: "Why can't Jamie just be a commentator?"Meanwhile, others warmly welcomed the introduction of a dedicated analysis reporter, with one viewer commenting: "Jamie Murray is a delight."Article continues belowJamie isn't the only fresh face on screen this year, as former Wimbledon finalist Eugenie Bouchard will provide a current player's perspective on what it truly takes to compete at the elite level. A host of familiar favourites have also returned, including Andre Agassi, John McEnroe, Martina Navratilova, Pat Cash, Tim Henman, Annabel Croft, and Tracy Austin. This year's tournament will also mark Andrew Castle's final Wimbledon with the BBC team after more than 20 years on commentary duties.Coverage of Wimbledon 2026 will air on BBC One and BBC Two and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer
