It is the largest gold discovery in the country in four years.The discovery was made last Monday by a trio of experienced gold prospectors: Siru Leppänen, Kirsi Ahola and Antti Leppänen.The three are farmers from Karstula in Central Finland, who have been amateur gold-hunters for many years.Siru Leppänen is one of the team that found the big lump. The nugget's raw gold value is just under 6,000 euros, but the likely sale value is at least 15,000 euros," according to a statement by the Gold Prospectors' Association of Finnish Lapland.Peronius said he did not know what the trio of discoverers plan to do with the gold.The Palsinoja district is a well-known gold prospecting area. Several large nuggets have been found over the past century and a half. The last one of the comparable size was found in 2022.
