Following the overnight attack, President Volodymyr Zelensky noted positive results in shooting down drones and cruise missiles, but not ballistic missiles. He expressed hope that the NATO summit in Ankara would yield “strong decisions in support of our air defense.”

The head of state made this statement on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“Our soldiers achieved good results today in shooting down drones and cruise missiles, but, unfortunately, not against Russian ballistic missiles. The reason lies precisely in the insufficient supply of interceptor missiles. It is very important that the world—first and foremost the United States and our European partners—emerge from the NATO summit in Ankara with strong decisions in support of our air defense, and thus, the protection of ordinary people’s lives,” Zelensky said.

He emphasized that as long as the missiles for the “Patriots” remain in allied warehouses, this only encourages Russia to continue “targeting” residential buildings. “The U.S. and Europe have enough power to stop this terror,” the President noted.

He also noted that Kyiv came under a massive Russian attack last night. Russia launched 68 missiles and another 351 attack drones. Cleanup efforts are currently underway. Damage has been reported at more than 10 locations across the city, including residential buildings.
