A woman was left gobsmacked when she received an outrageous request from her cheeky ex-boyfriend, despite the fact that their relationship had ended a year ago09:46, 06 Jul 2026Updated 09:47, 06 Jul 2026Breaking up with someone is never easy, because it involves accepting that you won't see the person much ever again, and all the shared memories you have together go up in smoke. Whether it's mutual or a decision made for you, it's still a really difficult thing to face up to, and it can leave you hurting months down the line if you haven't processed the relationship ending properly.‌But when a woman, Molly Bennett, received a text from a man she hadn't spoken to since they'd broken up a year ago, she was left gobsmacked at what he had the cheek to ask her.‌Showing her iMessage history with him, on May 17, Molly's ex had tried to call her, but she hadn't answered the phone - probably hoping that it was an innocent mistake, despite the fact that the call came after 1am, when most people are usually asleep. But it became all too clear that he actually wanted to speak to her when he texted her a few months later, wanting something oddly specific.‌He texted: "Hi Molly, can I borrow £20? To get some food for today and tomorrow? I'll send it back to you this Saturday without fail."She pointed out in the caption that this is a "fully grown man," and that he was still paying her money back that he'd borrowed when they were in a relationship together.Content cannot be displayed without consent‌Somebody pointed out the fact that he hadn't even asked her how she was, which proves that she's miles "better off without him"."I hope you're okay, you honestly deserve so much better," someone fumed in the comments.Others shared their relationship failures in the comments as well, and some of the entitlement from their exes was outrageous.‌One person wrote: "Mine from 5/6 years ago texted me out of the blue for a job reference."A second shared: "Mine did this after 10 years apart. Wanted £80 to pay for their kids' school trip. The absolute audacity."However, in the comments, some people wanted to check that she hadn't actually sent the money to him or responded to the cheeky text. They asked: "Did you send it?" Molly replied: "Hell no."Article continues belowShe also explained that she had cut off contact with him, because sometimes that helps to make a break-up easier, but he obviously wasn't feeling the same about the situation. In another post, she explained that she was much happier now she's single, explaining that she can "go out without arguments," and she doesn't have to feel like she's "not good enough".And if anyone is in a relationship and feels that way, it might not be the right one!
