“Carrying world trade. Carrying the risks” is this year’s theme of the International Day of the Seafarer celebrated every June 25. “Let us honour the courage and skills of mariners, and stand with them to weather all storms.” United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said in his message. The theme highlights the hardship, pressure and risks of life at sea, especially in high?risk and conflict?affected areas, while underscoring seafarers’ essential role in keeping global trade moving.
