Bombay, July 5: During the last two days, Bombay has been receiving a heavy downpour of rain accompanied by high wind registering nearly 8 inches, since Saturday early morning. It rained torrentially, from Sunday afternoon till midday on MondayThe streets were flooded, dislocating tramear and other vehicular traffic. The heavy rain did great damage to the underground telephone cables, cutting off some of the brigade stations. The greater part of the city had to put up with partial absence of telephone service. The railway lines were submerged but that did not interfere with local train service.
