Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) accused President Donald Trump of running what he called an unusually brazenly self-interested administration, pointing to personal and family wealth tied to government power.
The criticism follows Sanders’ separate warning that putting the planet and future generations at risk is the tradeoff when Trump backs higher fossil fuel output during record heat.
Sanders Sharpens Attacks Against Trump
Sanders said in a statement on X that Trump made at least $2.2 billion in his first year back in the White House and is traveling on a $400 million aircraft described as a gift from Qatar.
"As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of our country, it is important to understand that never before in our history have we had an administration as openly corrupt as Trump’s. This is a president who made at least $2.2 billion in his first year back in the White House," Sanders said.
