More than 300 volunteers participated in a mass cleaning drive at Nagore Beach in Nagapattinam district on Sunday.The cleanliness campaign was organised by the “Namma Nagai Koottam”, a voluntary initiative, with the participation of volunteers, students, social activists, and members of the public. District Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar flagged off the drive.The initiative was launched following the district administration’s appeal through its Instagram social media platform, inviting residents to share suggestions and ideas for the district’s development. In response to the enthusiastic public participation, the “Namma Nagai Koottam” volunteer group was formed to undertake community service activities. The administration has planned to organise various social initiatives every month.Ahead of the event, Mr. Praveen Kumar, on Saturday, reviewed the arrangements for the cleanliness drive, including the provision of drinking water, gloves, waste collection bins, and police security for the participants.
