The historic Sri Koteswara Swamy temple at Kotilingala in Velgatoor mandal of Jagtial district is set for a major facelift, with the State government allocating ₹10 crore for the development of the shrine.Announcing the temple development plans at Kotilingala on Sunday, Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar said the government has drawn plans to develop the historic temple, located on the banks of the Godavari River, by improving pilgrim amenities and road connectivity to the shrine.The State government has initiated an action plan to develop all major temples along the Godavari River course, including Basar, Dharmapuri, Kotilingala and Bhadrachalam ahead of Godavari Pushkaralu-2027.He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had made budgetary allocations well in advance for the next year’s Godavari Pushkaralu.Of the ₹117 crore funds allocated for works related to Godavari Pushkaralu-2027 in the Dharmapuri Assembly Constituency, ₹8 crore each has been earmarked for the development of the Pushkar Ghat at Kotilingala and the construction of a road between Kotilingala and Pashigam, he said.Another ₹20 crore has been sanctioned for four-laning the Velgatoor-Kotilingala road.
