Endowment Department Commissioner K. Ramachandra Mohan on Saturday said that as many as 162 temples have been identified near the Pushkar Ghats for renovation for the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams that is slated for 2027.Mr. Mohan reviewed the proposed infrastructure facilities and development of temples during a meeting attended by East Godavari District Collector Kirthi Chekuri and Godavari Pushkarams Special Officer Rahul Meena.“The devotees who will turn up for the Pushkarams are expected to visit the temples nearby the pushkar ghats. As many as 543 temples have been identified close to the designated pushkar ghats in the Godavari region,” Mr. Mohan said.“Of the 543 temples, as many as 162 temples have been proposed to be renovated with more facilities. An administrative sanction has been given for the renovation of the 162 temples, which renovation is targeted to be completed by March next year”, Mr. Mohan said, adding that the renovation works have begun in 43 temples.Ms. Kirthi and Mr. Meena have sought coordination among the endowment, revenue and Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation authorities for creating infrastructure facilities and crowd management during the pushkarams.
