A 19-year-old woman sustained serious injuries after she was allegedly stabbed by a youth near Kaveri Road at Veerappanchatram in Erode on Saturday night.The woman was reportedly in a relationship with the youth, a native of Salem, for six months, before ending it recently, according to police. The accused waylaid the woman, a tailor, on her way home from work and stabbed her multiple times in the neck before fleeing.On hearing her cries, passersby alerted the police. She was shifted by a 108 ambulance to the Erode Government Headquarters Hospital, where she was admitted to the emergency ward. Her condition was serious.The Veerappanchatram police registered a case of attempt to murder. The accused was later traced and detained. Further investigation is under way.
