RIYADH: The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has approved a guide for monitoring the illegal subdivision of residential units to strengthen compliance with municipal regulations and curb the practice.
The initiative aims to preserve building safety, improve residential living conditions, and enhance municipal oversight across the Kingdom.
The guide provides a unified regulatory and oversight framework by setting out the roles, responsibilities, and procedures for detecting, verifying, and addressing violations in line with approved municipal regulations.
It applies to all illegally subdivided residential and mixed residential-commercial units and aims to preserve structural safety, urban planning, and regulatory compliance.
The guide also outlines an integrated oversight approach based on data matching, lease contract reviews, permit verification, community reports, and field inspections to identify and confirm violations.
