The organisers of the Galaxy Music Awards have unveiled Kalakuta as the theme for the seventh edition of the awards, describing it as a tribute to the legacy of afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, and the fearless spirit that continues to define Nigerian music.
The announcement was made at a press conference recently held at Landmark POP, Victoria Island, Lagos, where industry stakeholders, media practitioners, music executives and creatives gathered to discuss the future of Nigerian music and the significance of this year’s edition.
Speaking at the event, the founder of the awards, Azubuike Amauchechukwu, said the platform remains committed to recognising excellence and celebrating the individuals whose contributions continue to shape the entertainment industry.
According to him, the Kalakuta theme reflects creativity, resilience, innovation and cultural pride, values that have helped position Nigerian music on the global stage.
The organisers also outlined activities leading up to the awards ceremony, including industry engagements, networking events, educational initiatives and community-based projects aimed at supporting emerging talents.
