In a major breakthrough, the Oddanchatram police solved a house break-in crime reported on April 8 and recovered 38 sovereigns of gold jewels, a car and two-wheeler from the gang on Saturday.Speaking to media persons, Dindigul SP Jeyakumar said that following a complaint from Kalimuthu, a retired Tangedco officer, a case was booked.It was said, he had locked his home and left with family. On arrival, he found that the house door was broken and that the valuables including gold jewellery, silver articles, ₹1 lakh cash and the car parked in the house was missing.Oddanchatram police registered a case. Special teams, which examined the CCTVs in the vicinity, zeroed in on some suspects, who were traced in Othakadai in Madurai.Discreet probe showed that the suspects figured in a heinous crime in Madurai and that they were in the Madurai central prisons.The team, took the suspects in custody through the judicial magistrate court and revealed that the suspects had laid their hands in the house break-in crime in Oddanchatram.Based on their confession, the police recovered 38 sovereigns of gold jewellery and also seized the car belonging to the complainant. Steps were on to recover the balance stolen articles. The names of the accused were given as Periasami (25), his brother Sakti Murugan (20) and Arul Murugan (20). The police also interrogated Periasami’s wife identified as Sangeetha, who is also in the prison.A senior officer in the investigation said that Sangeetha had given the gold jewellery to an agent and received money.
